Woody's Kids Scholarship
This scholarship was created in honor of Woody Gilliland for his service and commitment to West Texas Rehabilitation Center and his dedication to enriching the lives of our patients.
Woody Gilliland served as the President and CEO for the West Texas Rehabilitation Center from 2000 to 2015.
Before Woody’s retirement in 2015, a group of supporters from the Stamford Annual Cowboy Reunion decided to honor Woody by creating a fund in his name with the stipulation that the funds be used to help kids. The idea took hold and it was decided to use the funds to create a scholarship for a current or former patient in pursuit of higher education after high school. The word quickly spread to many other supporters of the Rehab who knew and appreciated the tremendous effort and commitment Woody gave to the Center.
Barney and Loleta Barnhart Scholarship
The late D.M. (Barney) and Loleta Barnhart started the camp for Rehab patients in 1978. In the early years there were less than 20 campers and it was an overnight retreat. Their three daughters, Laura, Barbara and Linda, along with family and friends, continued to host the camp until 2019 when West Texas Rehab fully took over operations.
This scholarship is awarded to an exceptional San Angelo camp buddy.
