Welcome to West Texas Rehabilitation Center. We are a well-respected, comprehensive outpatient rehabilitation center whose primary purpose is to be the premier provider for adults and children by providing individualized, one on one care to every person that walks into our facility. Our outpatient work environment is second to none for your clinical rotation and/or volunteer experiences.
Our services are provided to people regardless of their financial circumstance, which means we do not turn patients away based on their inability to pay. WTRC welcomes and encourages students to fulfill their clinical rotations at either our San Angelo or Abilene facilities. We are a large, well-established facility, and the student experience is very unique here because of the abundance of available opportunities provided by the fact that multiple disciplines and areas of expertise are all “under one roof.” You will have the opportunity to be a part of our team and at times, work with a variety of our professions in the adult and/or pediatric settings, including Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Speech Therapy, Aquatics, Orthotics and Prosthetics, Audiology, Neuropsychology, Hospice of the Big Country, Employer Services, and even in our Pacesetters fitness program, including Pilates, Barre, Yoga, and Fitness Training. Our clinicians are highly skilled with various specialized training and certifications, and they look forward to working with you, learning from you, and teaching you some of the “tricks of the trade” over the course of your time with us here at WTRC!
Academic Associations for Graduate Students in Professional Degree Programs
WTRC is affiliated with numerous institutions of higher education throughout the nation to provide clinical experiences for those students who are currently enrolled in a graduate program related to the healthcare profession you are pursuing. Your school contact should provide you with information on whether or not your graduate program is currently affiliated with WTRC for the services we offer. If your school is not currently registered with us and you are interested in a clinical affiliation at WTRC, please contact Erin Hicks at ehicks@wtrc.com (Abilene) or Jaime Gonzalez at jgonzalez@wtrc.com (San Angelo) for more information.
We do not offer any formal undergraduate “internships” in physical, occupational, or speech therapy, as well as in other areas of health care such as a public health degree, nutrition, etc. If you are interested in shadowing a provider in one of WTRC’s clinical service areas, please visit the Volunteer Information page.
