The West Texas Rehabilitation Center’s (WTRC) 48th annual telethon and auction Saturday, January 20th, raised over $1.320 million to support its mission of providing the best patient care in West Texas, regardless of a patient’s ability to pay. Along with the live show, the evening included an online auction featuring over 480 items, live phone bank, children’s activities, and even an indoor mechanical bull!
President & CEO Steve Martin expressed thanks to everyone who had a hand in helping WTRC raise the funds that go to support patients at facilities in Abilene, San Angelo, and Ozona. Martin said “We continue to be amazed and very grateful for the tremendous community support Rehab receives. Everyone’s generosity means we can continue to provide exceptional care to those who need our services, regardless of their financial situations.”
Local efforts were conducted by many surrounding communities, in combination with staff pledges, board member support, the annual Phonathon, and countless individuals and businesses, these results made the annual Telethon a successful event that will provide much-needed support for patient care throughout West Texas in 2018. In 2017, WTRC saw over 530 patients a day, from 157 cities and worked with 897 physicians.
The live telecast was broadcast in 8 television markets. Entertainment featured up and coming country music artist Carly Pearce and country music icons, Little Texas. Rion Paige, of X-Factor Fame, host Charlie Chase, Red Steagall, Jennifer Douglas-Smith, Brad Maule, Braid Blanks, and Twyla Foreman rounded out the entertainment for the evening.
The telethon’s Official Corporate Partners this year were Suddenlink- A brand of Altice (for the 11th year) & Capital Farm Credit (for their 2nd year). The Tote Board Sponsor was Decker Capital Partners/Gary and Connie Decker. NTS Communications was the auction sponsor. Accurate Air was the hospitality suite sponsor, Zach, Lou, and Robert O.
