Round-Up for Rehab raises $50,650
Sixteen head of cattle, two horses and cash donations brought in $50,650 at the annual Round-Up for Rehab sale Thursday at Producers Livestock Auction in San Angelo.
"We are overjoyed at the generosity of the agriculture community throughout the Concho Valley, especially with a drought and the economy troubling us all," said Bob Helmers of Christoval, co-chairman for the Concho Valley.
The Round-Up for Rehab is the oldest fundraising program for West Texas Rehabilitation Center and second-largest yearly fundraiser behind the January telethon. The money from the annual roundup is converted into services for more than 25,000 children and adults with disabilities who receive rehab services annually.
Established in Abilene in 1953, WTRC expanded to San Angelo in 1977. A third facility opened in June 1998 in Ozona.
